Carpeting — Available for every floor and every function!

Thrilled at that “great deal” you got on your carpet? You may soon be disappointed when your carpeting doesn’t live up to your expectations.

Today’s carpets offer almost too many choices, with a broad range of fibers, textures, patterns, weights, densities and backings. It can be overwhelming.

Before you choose your carpet, consult with us at RNB Design Group. We’ll discuss your needs and expectations. We’ll help you narrow your choices based on your budget, lifestyle, and other factors that matter to you.
Also, the performance characteristics of each type of carpet will vary. For example, you need to consider the stain-resistance properties of your carpet. Some of our customers opt for carpet after-treatments, which, as the term implies, offer additional protection from stains and soils. Other customers have simpler needs. We’ll help you figure it out.

Laminate v. Hardwood Floors

Laminate flooring has several advantages over hardwood flooring. In fact, in today’s flooring industry, laminate actually outsells solid hardwood.

Laminate is attractive
Laminate flooring consists of four different layers. The look of your flooring is determined by the design layer.

The design layer is covered with a photographic image to imitate natural hardwood flooring right down to its grain, color and knots.

Laminate is versatile
Because the look of laminate depends on a photographic image on the design layer, laminate can offer many more design options than hardwood.

Laminate is practical
While laminate flooring is characterized by a repetition of the same grain patterns, hardwood flooring offers a bit more variation in its grain patterns. However, when it comes to repairs, it is easier to find replacement laminate planks that will not contrast the existing planks.

Laminate is affordable
With a price tag about twenty-five percent cheaper than hardwood flooring, laminate offers the visual appeal of solid hardwood with more money left in your pocket…which you might use for those other home projects you’ve been delaying.

Laminate flooring is much easier to install than solid hardwood
Because laminate uses a locking tongue-and-groove design, you can install glueless laminate flooring by attaching the laminate planks together; this is much easier than the glue or nails used to install solid hardwood. Laminate is also much easier to clean up after installation compared to hardwood.

Laminate flooring can be used immediately
Using a locking tongue-and-groove design instead of glue also means that you can immediately use your flooring after the installation as you needn’t wait for any glue to dry.

Laminate flooring installs more quickly than solid hardwood
The installation of laminate flooring occurs more quickly than hardwood flooring. This is because the planks used for laminate are wider than the planks used for hardwood.

Laminate flooring is more durable than natural hardwood flooring
Laminate is about fifteen times stronger and harder to damage than hardwood. Laminate tolerates heavy foot traffic better than solid hardwood. This is why you will find that laminate often comes with a ten- or fifteen-year warranty, whereas solid hardwood warranties are much shorter.

However, if necessary, you can re-sand and finish a solid hardwood floor as many times as necessary, which will allow your hardwood floor to last for many years. Laminate floors cannot be re-sanded due to its many layers.

Laminate flooring provides ultraviolet (UV) ray protection
Laminate’s ability to block UV rays from the sun prevents fading in your flooring. Since solid hardwood flooring does not provide UV protection, you must spend more money to maintain the beauty of your hardwood floors.

Laminate flooring is much easier to maintain than hardwood
Since laminate does not trap any dirt, daily maintenance requires only brushing or dust mopping. Should any water get on the laminate, you can wipe it up with a sponge, paper towel or mop. Cleaning solid hardwood floors is much more time consuming and usually requires the use of relatively expensive cleaning products.
